The House of the Rising Sun (La casa del Sol naciente) es una canci\u00f3n folk de los Estados Unidos. Tambi\u00e9n llamada Rising Sun Blues, narra la vida de alguien que ha tenido poca fortuna en Nueva Orleans (estado de Luisiana). No se conoce el autor. Seg\u00fan la versi\u00f3n, la canci\u00f3n puede ser interpretada desde la perspectiva de una mujer o de un hombre.<\/p>\n<p>La grabaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s antigua conocida fue hecha por Clarence Ashley y Gwen Foster en 1934. Ashley hab\u00eda aprendido la canci\u00f3n de su abuelo.<\/p>\n<p>Varios lugares en Nueva Orleans, Louisiana, han sido propuestos como inspiradores de la canci\u00f3n, pero s\u00f3lo dos parecen contar con bases hist\u00f3ricas relacionadas con el nombre \u00abRising Sun\u00bb; ambas figuran en antiguos directorios de la ciudad.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>El primero es un peque\u00f1o hotel ubicado en la Conti Street en el French Quarter en la d\u00e9cada de 1820.<\/li>\n<li>El segundo es un lugar alquilado para bailes y eventos llamado \u00abRising Sun Hall\u00bb a finales del siglo XIX, ubicado frente al r\u00edo en el vecindario de Carrollton.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A veces se utiliza, en la actualidad, la expresi\u00f3n \u00abHouse Of The Rising Sun\u00bb como un eufemismo de prost\u00edbulo, pero hasta la fecha no se ha podido determinar la relaci\u00f3n ni descubrir la casa que dio origen a la canci\u00f3n. Otros la vinculan a una casa de juego.<\/p>\n<p>No se han documentado v\u00ednculos con el juego o la prostituci\u00f3n en estos locales, ninguno de los cuales existe ya.
